Summer Accelerated Reading for Grant Students…

Standard

RenPlaceThe Summer Accelerated Reading (AR) program is now ready! Students can take quizzes online just as they did at school.

The process is easy. Have your child…

  1. Choose a book (over 100,000 titles)
  2. Read it
  3. Log in to Accelerated Reader
  4. Find the book
  5. Take the quiz
  6. Log out of Accelerated Reader
  7. Rinse and repeat (Just checking to make sure you are paying attention!)

User ids and passwords are the same from school. (Just ask your children, they probably know them.)

Access the Renaissance Place/Accelerated Reader using the following web address:
https://hosted49.renlearn.com/282755/default.htm

Use any internet connection (home, friend’s house or library).

“Log Out” at the end of the session (using the “Log Out” link in the upper right corner”) particularly if you are not at home.

See the following web page for more information about how to access AR or if you are having problems:

If you or your student has any questions, email Mrs. Deen at deenfamily@comcast.net. She’ll get back to you as soon as possible. (Mrs. Deen will be out of town beginning June 18.)

Please note, this email is being sent via our calendar system and the newsletter system to ensure we’ve reached as many families in our community as possible. (If you know someone who didn’t subscribe to either the calendar or the newsletter last year, please forward this information along.)

If you received this email from trumba.com (our former calendar system), you will not be able to respond to it as we are cancelling today. Please send any further news inquires to shamrocknews@comcast.net. That email account will be valid through the summer months.

Have a happy summer and read, read, read!

DEAR GRANT COMMUNITY FAMILIES: Last Letter of the Year…

Standard

Well it’s finally here, the last day of school! It has been a busy and productive year and everyone seems to be very ready for a vacation.

Things change each year. Speech/language therapist Kim Starke, computer lab coordinator Paul Kalargiros, and school psychologist Dr. Grace Rogers will not be returning next year. Ms. Starke, Dr. Rogers, and Mr. Kalargiros are off to new adventures and other professional commitments. We thank Kim, Grace and Paul for their many, many contributions to our students. We wish you all the best.

The Grant office closes on June 21 and will re-open on August 1. If you need any information while the office is closed please feel free to contact the Petaluma City School District office, at 778-4813.

On behalf of the entire Grant Elementary School staff, thank you very much for your ongoing support and commitment to our school and more importantly to your children. It is obvious that our students come from caring homes where academics and personal responsibility are nurtured and valued.

We look forward to seeing you in August!

  • First Day of School: Wednesday, August 22
  • Labor Day Holiday: Monday, September 3
  • First Meeting of the Grant School Site Council: Tuesday, September 4
  • Back to School Night for Parents: Wednesday, September 5

Be watching for more announcements of activities and dates and check our website: www.grantelementary.org

We wish you a restful and fun-filled summer.

Sincerely,

Judith Martin, Principal

Needed…one Shamrock News editor for next school year

Standard

As this year closes, I am resigning as newsletter editor. It has been a great two years with some experiments in how to reach our school population better through both offline and online venues. It is now time for someone else to take up the challenge. The job can be done at night after the “kiddies” are in bed. Most articles currently come through email, but an occasional note in the box in the office or a phone call provides fodder for an upcoming newsletter. If you want to know more, please contact me (Ginny Mason, 773-4526 or ginnymason@comcast.net) to answer any questions you might have. If you’d just like to cut to the chase and sign yourself up for a very needed and rewarding volunteer opportunity, contact Debbie Yee at 762-1432 or deborah@winecountrysmiles.com.
